It was a great weekend and we danced until well past 2am. Had
to be in the hall by 9am for breakfast and so one or two of us
needed a bit of a kip during the day to catch up. If you have
never tried a Butlins 60's weekend but fancy giving it a go let
Pauline know that you are interested and she will put you down
for next year. We get there Friday afternoon and leave Monday
morning, so there is Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights entertainment
plus accommodation and all the food you can eat for around £110.00.
Might sound expensive but when you work it all out it's not. Pictures
can be found on the events page.
Upcoming events at the club.
Pool and Darts match and Christmas decorations to be put up.
Pop along and help put up in the club room a few balloons and
tinsel ready for the New Years eve party. Pauline is looking to
hold the club Christmas party in the MenCap centre. Tickets are
going well and we have bikers coming up from London and across
from Liverpool, so get your tickets this Thursday if you want
to come along. Only £8.00 each and that includes food!!!
New Years eve party tickets are also going well and at only £3.00
each they are a real bargain. Again see Pauline if you want to
come. This 'Do' will be held in the club room come what may (that's
why we are decorating it).
Bon Jovi/Meat Loaf tribute night, Thursday 31 January 2008. Already
had almost 40 people say that they will be along on this special
Thursday night and that was from one whip round at last Thursdays
club night. This may prove to be another big night at the club
and with tickets costing only £3.00 each I will not be surprised.
I know I have said it before but if this guy performs half as
well as he did when I last saw him we are into something really
special. Money will be collected and tickets handed out after
the New Years eve party to avoid confusion.
All for now, but don't forget to look on the clubs web site.
We are getting 'hits' from all over the world (well almost) and
you might just see yourself on there.
15th November 2007
Dave Cotterill's dance night.
Pauline announced at the committee meeting on Tuesday night that
£1,000.00 had been raised from all the activities that took place
at the MenCap centre in memory of Dave Cotterill on the 27th October.
For those of you who are not aware the money was raised for MenCap
as Dave and Pauline had made comments earlier on in the year that
MenCap would be short of funding this year due to the National
Rally being cancelled. (Last year MenCap received over £25,000
from money raised by bikers who took part in the Rally).
The club has invited guests from the local MenCap centre to attend
a special presentation on Thursday 20th December at 8.30pm in
the club house. The cheque will be handed over by Pauline Cotterill
and it is hoped that all club members will be able to be there
and show their support.
Old Friends.
Just had an E-mail from Trevor, our ex Rider Training Scheme
Chief Instructor who moved to Oz several years ago (and is responsible
for several bad email jokes) and he is coming home to Leicester
for Christmas.
He hopes to '...land at about midday at Birmingham pick up the
car so we hope to be in Leicester around 3 ish, so if we can make
it we may just turn up at the Christmas party'. How about that...coming
all the way from Australia to be at the Fosse Riders Christmas
party. That must be some sort of record. Trevor and Vanessa will
be here until 11 January.
If any of you out there know of or have contact details of old
FR Instructors please let them know as I'm sure they would like
to meet up with Trevor once again.
Christmas Party, 22 December;
Tickets will be available this Thursday from Pauline, price £8.00
each including food. As usual bring your own booze. The committee
have decided that if the numbers exceed 70 we will hold the party
in the MenCap centre next door. If the numbers are below 70 we
will hold it in the club room. As the venues are next door to
each other this will not cause a problem. If you would like to
donate a small prize for the raffle that would be great. Hand
it to Pauline any Thursday night.
New Years Eve Party 31 December;
Following on from the Christmas party the clubs NYEP has become
another firm favourite. Tickets are only £----- and will be available
again from Pauline.
Meatloaf - Bon Jovi tribute night; Thursday 31 January 2008.
January is a bloody depressing month with little to look forward
to so the committee has decided to get 2008 off to a lively start
by putting on a Meat Loaf/Bon Jovi tribute night. The singer,
I reckon, is absolutely awesome and he will be coming all the
way from Sheffield to entertain our club members. If you are not
into Bon Jovi or Meatloaf give this night a miss, stay at home
and watch the tele. If you are a fan, put this date in your diary
NOW. He will be performing for an hour from 9.00 until 10.00pm.Food
will be available from behind the bar. Because numbers will be
limited this will have to be a ticket only night (the first time
ever for our club on a Thursday night) at a cost of only £3.00
each. Tickets will be available from me as soon as I have printed
them.
4th November 2007
BMF Affiliation 2008.
Just had the latest info in from the BMF giving our club all
the details on cost, insurance, benefits, shows etc. There will
be a new BMF South-West Show held at the Bath and West Showground
in June plus all the regular shows in 2008. Full details of times, dates
and places will follow. The BMF have given us a Discount code.
Once again to be used by our members (provided we re-affiliate)
when ordering tickets for all BMF Shows and MEMBA RALLY tickets.
YES that's right...the Memba Rally is ON. I know some of you
had heard that the Memba rally was in doubt but the BMF have confirmed
that it is on for 2008. It is still called the Memba Rally (and
at the AGM we were told that camping will return to the Showground),
so for those of you interested in booking for 2008 let Pauline
know as soon as possible as space is bound to be limited. We need
to quote our discount code in order to get our (and I quote from
the BMF paperwork)... 'entitlement to Memba Rally tickets'. So
great news on the camping front.
We have a committee meeting on the 13th November and I'm sure
this decision by the BMF to continue the Memba Rally in 2008 will
help to persuade some committee members that there are still some
benefits left to re-affiliating with the BMF. Full details of
BMF Affiliation, its benefits, insurance and of course that all
important discount code, will be pinned to the club notice board
on Thursday.
Thursday 8th November.
Don't forget that Dave Tibbles will be coming to the club house
to give his much awaited chat on Sidecar racing on Thursday 8th
November at around 8.30pm. Should be interesting to say the least.
See you all there. Mike Press Officer PS I have taken this opportunity
to copy this press release to the BMF to let them know that we
do read their material and pass it on to our members.
